In this series of mixed media works on paper (silk screen, digital print and acrylic paint on paper) I am taking the idea of contradictions a step further by contrasting photographic images of urban life; a Katrina trailer park, the US / Mexican border, and my neighborhood in Jersey City against an idealized and sentimental painting of a figurine. The figurines and photographs are placed inside a medallion design. Together they depict a brief scene or moment in time.

The patterned backgrounds are all unique, one of a kind silkscreen prints influenced initially by a striped Mexican blanket. From there I incorporated a decorative wall paper pattern that depicted a European style nature scene. The colors and patterns are sometimes harmonious and sometimes in sharp contrast with each other.
